China launches OpenKylin 1.0 OS with support for Windows, Linux and Android

The first open source Chinese operating system OpenKylin 1.0 has been presented, which is created by the efforts of numerous developers from the Middle Kingdom: these are 3867 programmers and designers, 74 groups and 271 enterprises.

One of the main advantages of OpenKylin is the ability to change the operating system code at will, which is not available to the owners of the popular Windows and Apple.

Development will not replace popular OS, but it can become a competitor among numerous analogues on Linux

The system is based on Linux, and, according to the first users, very much resembles Ubuntu, although the developers claim that OpenKylin is completely written from scratch. If we talk about differences from other Linux distributions, then the desktop developed by the Chinese community called UKUI catches the eye. The basic content of the software is quite standard. Here, for example, you can find the Mozilla Firefox browser and the WPS office suite.

Users of the system will be pleased with the ability to run applications written for Linux, Windows and Android – they can be downloaded from the application store. True, for some it is necessary to use an emulator. OpenKylin runs on x86, Arm and RISC-V systems.
