Audiophile dynamic closed-type wooden headphones
Manufactured and fully assembled in Japan, the ATH-W2022 combine technological innovation and traditional craftsmanship to create a timeless audio component of exquisite elegance. The housings are expertly crafted from mizumi (Japanese birch) and finished with a traditional urushi lacquer – just like the brand’s first wooden ATH-W10VTG headphones – to ensure pure sound quality with natural reverberation. The sakura (cherry color) and hou-ou phoenix are hand-painted on the left and right bowls, respectively, using the Japanese maki-e lacquer technique, while the right panel is also decorated with mother-of-pearl. The cases are suspended on brackets, the shape of which resembles the winged slope of irimoya roofs, which cover many Japanese temples. Deer leather is used for the ear cushions and headband to ensure long life and comfort.
The sleek enclosures house 58mm baffle-integrated drivers that have been specially designed and optimized for these closed-back headphones. Using innovative Core Mount technology, the speakers are positioned to ensure optimal airflow and full-range sound reproduction. The diaphragm consists of a central dome of pure titanium pressed to a thickness of 30 microns (0.03 mm). This design emphasizes mid-range and high-range sound reproduction with excellent high-frequency response.
