Canon EOS R5C Mark II in development

According to a foreign source, Canon will introduce two new high-tech cameras: Canon EOS R5 Mark II and Canon EOS R5C Mark II. The first model is expected in 2024, and the second, respectively, in 2025.

The source clarifies that the need for the Canon EOS R5C hybrid cinema camera appeared due to the fact that the original Canon EOS R5 model, which has the ability to shoot RAW video on a memory card, overheated very quickly. Due to excessive overheating, which even numerous firmware updates could not fix, the company introduced the Canon EOS R5C.

Detailed information about the model Canon EOS R5C has not yet been published.

However, according to published information from a number of independent sources, the problem of overheating should be resolved in the Canon EOS R5 Mark II. The camera can get a 60 megapixel matrix. However, there is no exact data yet on how long the Canon EOS R5 Mark II will be able to record video in RAW format and whether there will be any limitation in this area. In order to provide such opportunities, the manufacturer will have to install a powerful cooling system.
